  • Play
Play and movement are often interrelated. This is why, through games involving physical activity, the children’s abilities in collaboration and communication are strengthened. Play is the highest form of research.

  • Learning
With the help of interactive activity and learning games, it is never going to be tedious to repeat inflections, equations and other subject-related material. Play is children’s (and the memory’s) preferred learning tool.

  • Movement
Movement supports and supplements teaching while also making each day exciting and different – and as an extra bonus, memory functions are improved through physical activity, as a larger number of neurons are stimulated.

Interactive Learning, Movement and Fun!

ActiveFloor is an interactive floor where children navigate in and play various activity and learning games by using their feet.

ActiveFloor provides schools, nursery schools, after-school care facilities, libraries and hospitals with new ways of furthering educational, social and motor development in a fun way. Provide the children with the opportunity to learn in the way that is the most natural for them: by using the whole body.

With an interactive floor you give kids in all ages the possibility to learn and develop – both intellectually, physically and socially – in the way that is the most natural for them: by using the whole body.

Right now, you can find ActiveFloor at schools, nursery schools, libraries, hospitals and in various playing areas all around the world.

An Interactive Floor – What is that?

ActiveFloor’s interactive floor consists of three main elements:

  1. A ceiling-mounted installation box with a projector and a computer.
  2. A camera that tracks movement.
  3. A white vinyl floor that makes up the foundation of your interactive playing area.

Place the interactive floor in a room or hallway occupied by the children, and derive full advantage of the floor.

Classroom

A teach with kids around on ActiveFloor on the floorFor many years, kids have been asked to sit still when they have been taught to read, write and do math – but today we know that bringing in movement over the course of the day can further kids’ learning, motivation and their well-being at school. So let’s make movement in the classroom part of the daily routine.

With an interactive floor, the students get an equal approach to auditive, visual and kinetic learning. ActiveFloor creates greater interactivity and makes it possible to strengthen the collaboration, communication and movement in the classroom.

The learning games with content for maths, language arts and science provide you, as a teacher, with plenty of opportunities to integrate movement and ‘fun’ in the teaching of both small and big kids – and you can even make your very own game content. When you work with movement and gamification, you catch the students’ attention in a whole new way while you bring in the learning targets of the individual subjects.

for the kids to develop their understanding of numbers, letters and symbols.
At the same time, you create the possibility of incorporating IT and learning in everyday life in a natural way – in a fun way.

Joy in Hospital

Research shows that kids get well faster if they get out of the hospital bed and use their bodies. At the same time, it is important that their stay in hospital includes positive and entertaining experiences.

Use ActiveFloor in the treatment process

ActiveFloor can be used both directly and indirectly in the treatment process. In rehabilitation, ActiveFloor can be an entertaining element in the various exercises.

In addition to this, the interdisciplinary staff can use ActiveFloor indirectly in treatment, as using the floor provides a possibility to assess the patients in a setting which is isolated from the hospital bed.

Fill out the waiting time for the patients, their friends and relatives

Interaktivt Gulv Til Skoler 2 1030x690ActiveFloor is developed to be used across all age groups. It is therefore ideally suited to fill out the waiting time that both patients and relatives might encounter during a hospital stay. At the same time, ActiveFloor can serve as a sanctuary for patients and relatives where they can join in social activities, meet other families across wards and share experiences.

Additionally, the games with subject-related content can function as teaching material for chronically ill kids who have difficulty following the education at their own schools.

You can find ActiveFloor in the paediatrics units of Danish hospitals. Here, the floor contributes to:

  • make the kids’ stay at hospital pleasant and entertaining
  • get patients to move and make sure that they are not physically passive
  • provide nurses and doctors with a more nuanced clinical picture of patients

Rehabilitation and Active Senior

Active Senior1 1500x938Now ActiveFloor has developed the game concept further, so that it’s also targeted different kinds of rehabilitation: for instance, it can be introduced at care homes for people with dementia or at the Department of Neurology at hospital.

Countless studies show that our central nervous system and our immune system communicate directly with each other. This means that our feelings and our bodies aren’t two separate entities; in fact, they are bound together to a very high degree. When rehabilitation and physical movement are associated with positive feelings, the brain can better store and recall what you learn. This is why you will experience cognitive improvement over time if you’ve incorporated play and movement in your rehabilitation.

ActiveFloor Senior offers cognitively stimulating games which are specifically tailored to seniors and people with memory impairment, for instance people with dementia. The games focus on stimulating balance, coordination and memory, and moreover, it can be used as a supplement to physiotherapy.

ActiveFloor for adults offers interactive games and makes rehabilitation adaptable and motivating – no matter if it’s regarding your mind or body.

Active Senior

Activesenior 1030x715Dementia can’t be cured, but the symptoms can be relieved, and cognitive exercise can help keep the mind sharp and going. This is why many of the games in ActiveFloor Senior aim to stimulate the senses, work the memory and not the least increase life quality.

When a person is affected by memory impairment, for instance dementia, more and more memories disappear as the illness progresses. With ActiveFloor Senior, relatives and nursing staff can upload pictures and text to interactive picture books, puzzles and memory games among other things, and in that way play a part in resuscitating life stories. It can help the person with dementia with remembering his/her life, and at the same time, it can spark valuable conversations with relatives and nursing staff.

ActiveFloor wants to have a positive impact on people with dementia and make games that provide them with the opportunity to put the things that they like, the experiences they’ve had in life, and who they are into words themselves.

Moreover, our interactive floor can be used on a tabletop so that those who are walking-impaired can take part in the games.
