All children potty train at different times based on their individual development. Children with disabilities may need additional support and assistive technology items to be successful. Participants will be introduced to evidence-based assistive technology supports, tools and resources to use for children with disabilities during potty training. The indicators to watch for when a child is ready to begin potty training will be shared and how to create an accessible bathroom experience for all children.
Assisting young children to access and participate in their home and school environment using Assistive Technology is essential! Participants will be introduced to Assistive Technology supports for Early Childhood. Resources will be shared on how to access information on what typical development is and how to use that information to provide Assistive Technology supports for birth to three-year olds and preschool settings. The myths and benefits of Assistive Technology for infants and young children will be discussed.
