Serving Students with both visual and autism impairments is an overview of the definitions and characteristics of both visual impairment/blindness and autism diagnoses. The presenters will share case studies of actual students living in Alaska who have the co-occurrence of visual and autism impairment. The presenters will share some of the challenges they have experienced while attempting to find ways to meet these student’s unique functional needs. Presenters will also share the implementation of evidence-based methods that were used to not only accommodate the student’s needs but that also contributed to their success.
