Description: Children need independent mobility. This fact remains undisputed, and literature supports how all children learn by independent mobility and exploration. Specifically, even as it regards language development, the intitaion of communication itself, is based on a person’s actual physical approach to another person. In the field of AT, students of all ages are presented with and encouraged to use computers, dedicated communication devices, tablets and smart boards. No student is expected to demonstrate mastery before they have experience, yet in powered mobility, old expectations of driving skills are required. This session is designed to assist those therapists, teachers, parents and other service providers, who truly are up to the challenge, themselves, of radically changing the ways that mobility has been “taught, encouraged or discouraged.”

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing by Closing The Gap on or before October 1, 2025. Replacements are welcome and must also be submitted in writing.

Cancellation fees:

  • $200 for each 1-day pre-conference workshop
  • $300 for each 2-day pre-conference workshop
  • $100 for each single-day conference registration
  • $250 for each full conference registration. Applicable to standard rate, Solutions member rate, presenter/exhibitor rate and conference registration and membership combo rate.

No refunds will be issued after October 1, 2025. Unpaid balances are due in full.

If for any reason beyond Closing The Gap’s control, Closing The Gap determines that the in-person conference must be cancelled, attendees understand and agree that their registration type shall be changed to a virtual registration. Closing The Gap is not responsible for any additional conference expenses, including hotel, travel, etc.
