Description: This full-day workshop on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) equips practitioners with tools and strategies for holistic AAC system customization. Participants will explore evidence-based frameworks, hands-on applications, and innovative approaches to address vocabulary selection, symbol modification, physical access, and sensory processing needs. The workshop features practical tools like the AAC User Customization Form and a Consideration Checklist, guiding attendees in creating personalized user files. Topics include theoretical foundations, case studies, hands-on practice, and brief discussions on AI’s potential role in streamlining customizations. By attending, participants will master personalization techniques to enhance user engagement, communication, and device use effectively.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing by Closing The Gap on or before October 1, 2025. Replacements are welcome and must also be submitted in writing.

Cancellation fees:

  • $200 for each 1-day pre-conference workshop
  • $300 for each 2-day pre-conference workshop
  • $100 for each single-day conference registration
  • $250 for each full conference registration. Applicable to standard rate, Solutions member rate, presenter/exhibitor rate and conference registration and membership combo rate.

No refunds will be issued after October 1, 2025. Unpaid balances are due in full.

If for any reason beyond Closing The Gap’s control, Closing The Gap determines that the in-person conference must be cancelled, attendees understand and agree that their registration type shall be changed to a virtual registration. Closing The Gap is not responsible for any additional conference expenses, including hotel, travel, etc.
